Multimedia Art Guides 2008 - 2011
Academic research projects aiming to set up a modern critical instrument to allow museum and exhibitions visitors to understand art, architecture, and other topics. On one hand, they provide visitors with comprehensive information about art collections, artists, with rich multimedia material prepared by experts i.e., researchers, art critics, etc.. On the other hand, they provide not only designers and programmers but also domain experts (e.g., art critics) with a system in which they can gather, organize and tailor multimedia content of heterogeneous nature, instantiating a set of predefined templates on actual "visit paths".
PhD Student 2006 - 2009
In the context of the PRIN project “Musisque deoque II. Un archivio digitale dinamico di poesia latina, dalle origini al Rinascimento italiano”, sponsored by the italian MIUR, the PhD thesis “Manuzio: an Object Language for Annotated Text Collections” has been written. The thesis presents:
-
a specialized model to code literary texts in digital form that captures complex textual structures and multiple concurrent hierarchies;
-
a functional object-oriented language with persistent capabilities and constructs specific to deal with literary analysis algorithms;
-
a database structure to store texts and make them accessible from the language;
-
the guidelines for a complete system to store, analyze, and annotate complete textual corpora in a concurrent environment.
In the implementation phase an interpreter for the language has been developed and tested with two textual corpora (Shakespeare's plays and Eugenio Montale's poems). If interested, you can read the full dissertation about Manuzio.
